Tackling action-based video abstraction of animated movies for video browsing
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we address the issue of producing automatic video abstracts in the video indexing context of animated movies. For a quick browse of the movie’s visual content, we create first a storyboard-like summary, which follows the movie events by providing one key frame for each particular scene. To capture the shot visual activity, we use histograms of cumulative inter-frame distances and key frames are adapted to histogram mode distribution. Secondly, for a ”sneak peak” of the movie’s exciting action content, we propose a trailer-like video skim, which aims at providing only the most interesting parts of the movie. Our method is based on a relatively standard approach, thus highlighting action through the analysis of the movie rhythm and visual activity information. To fit every movie content, including predominant static movies or movies without exciting parts, the concept of action gets tuned according to movie average rhythm. The efficiency of our approach 1 has been confirmed through several user studies, directly by the ”consumers of the product”, i.e. the end-users.

Video Abstraction in H.264/AVC Compressed Domain
Video abstraction allows searching, browsing and evaluating videos only by accessing the useful contents. Most of the studies are using pixel domain, which requires the decoding process and needs more time and process consuming than compressed domain video abstraction. In this paper, we present a new video abstraction method in H.264/AVC compressed domain, AVAIF. The method is based on the norm...
متن کاملAnalyzing Animated Movie Contents for Automatic Video Indexing
In this chapter the authors tackle the analysis and characterization of the artistic animated movies in view of constituting an automatic content-based retrieval system. First, they deal with temporal segmentation, and propose cut, fade and dissolve detection methods adapted to the constraints of this domain. Further, they discuss a fuzzy linguistic approach for automatic symbolic/semantic cont...
متن کاملA Content-Driven System Architecture for Tackling Automatic Cataloging of Animated Movie Databases
This article discusses content-based access to video information in large video databases and particularly, to retrieve animated movies. The authors examine temporal segmentation, and propose cut, fade and dissolve detection methods adapted to the constraints of this domain. Further, the authors discuss a fuzzy linguistic approach for deriving automatic symbolic/semantic content annotation in t...
متن کاملAnimated People Textures
This paper introduces a technique to create controllable animations of realistic figures of people starting from live-action video. The described synthesis of such ‘people textures’ extends previous work in video textures to allow the ‘texturing’ of human movement through human-specific feature extraction, coupled with careful data mining. In our approach, the video database is pre-processed to...
متن کاملAction Change Detection in Video Based on HOG
Background and Objectives: Action recognition, as the processes of labeling an unknown action of a query video, is a challenging problem, due to the event complexity, variations in imaging conditions, and intra- and inter-individual action-variability. A number of solutions proposed to solve action recognition problem. Many of these frameworks suppose that each video sequence includes only one ...
